The Trade Winds in Hawaii
Arriving in Hawaii the breezes are a delightful addition to the sticky heat and sunshine. According to NOAA, these winds were named by the crews of sailing ships during their westward ocean crossings. The winds blow east to west, just north and south of the equator.

Sitting by the pool with sun beating down, these winds become welcome as the temperatures remain high and the air sticky. Copious amounts of water and an umbrella are essential to a relaxed stay at the beach or the pool.
With these breezes, squalls eventually roll across Maui, bringing cool temperatures and rainbows. The light, yet persistent, winds provide a respite while sitting by the pool or enjoying a day on the beach.
