Whitewater, California…what a lovely setting – barren yet rich with overwhelming views. The Wildlands Conservancy’s Whitewater Preserve is 2851 acres, encompassing the San Gorgonio Wilderness.
While the website describes the possibilities of bighorn sheep, deer, and bear, we only saw a phoebe but continued to search in vain for the fringe-toed lizard.
Still, well worth the 20 minute drive from Palm Springs. The hiking trails alone along the river and up the mountains are able to capture the peacefulness of nature and a healthy adventure.
